 TELL YOUR SENATOR THAT YOU SUPPORT SECOND-PARENT ADOPTION RIGHTS!

Currently under Nebraska Law, only the biological parent is given the ability to have legal rights and decision-making power over their children unless that parent is legally married, and their spouse requests to adopt their children. 

This statute clearly discriminates agains LGBT couples and families, as well as other unmarried couples wishing to share parenting responsibilitites.

LB 571 would correct this problem by allowing unmarried second parents to adopt and take responsiblity for their partner's children.  To find out more about this bill and how it affects Nebraska families, please click on the website below:

Additionally, please send a letter to your Senator RIGHT NOW to ask them to support LB 571 so that all children may be equal under the law.  If you are a parent, please add into the letter how this law would affect your family in a positive way.
