Campaign Unavailable

We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Human Rights Campaign.

The short explanation of this alert was:

Texas Governor Rick Perry signed a resolution last week to amend the Texas constitution by banning same-sex marriage. When asked how he could tell GLBT veterans coming home from Iraq that they could not marry, he said that "Texans made a decision about marriage and if there's a state that has more lenient views than Texas, then maybe that's a better place for them to live." Please send him an email today expressing your disappointment with his action and his remarks about Texas veterans, and your support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Texans.
